(AWCC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Alaska’s wildlife through public education. AWCC takes in injured and orphaned animals year-round and provides spacious enclosures and quality animal care. Animals that cannot be released into the wild are given a permanent home at the center.
AWCC provides visitors with the opportunity to view Alaskan wildlife up close.

Amateur photographers have the opportunity to take award winning photographs while animals display their natural, “wild”, behavior. CoyotesAlaska Wildlife Conservation Center moose calf peer out from behind the brush while a bald eagle swoops in on the salmon remains left by a grizzly bear. Wood Bison plod through 65 acres of tidal flat terrain, as part of a program that will one day restore the species to the Alaskan wilderness. Map

Alaska’s only public aquarium and ocean wildlife rescue center is celebrating ten years on the shores of Resurrection Bay. Visitors to this “window on the sea” have close encounters with puffins, octopus, sea lions and other sealife while peeking over the shoulders of ocean scientists studying Alaska’s rich seas and diverse sealife.

We are a private, non-profit corporation with approximately 105 full-time employees and dedicated staff of volunteers and interns.

The Alaska Native Heritage Center, a renowned cultural center and museum in Anchorage, is an exciting place where all people can come to expand their understanding of Alaska’s first people. Here we share the rich heritage of Alaska’s eleven cultural groups drawing upon the lifeways of long ago, the wisdom of our elders, and the traditions that endure. Our cultural center and museum is located in Northeast Anchorage, Alaska is designed to enhance self-esteem among Native people and to encourage cross-cultural exchanges among all people. Map
